Global Entrepreneurship Week / Canada

    Entrepreneurship Week Canada (EWC)

Entrepreneurship Week Canada (EWC) is a nation-wide campaign dedicated to instill the spirit of entrepreneurship in Canadian youth. EWC aims to raise awareness on the importance of entrepreneurship in society and to empower youth to take action on their ideas.

    Our Vision:

Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in Canadian society, which is often seen by youth as an alternative to pursuing higher education. In reality, there are many entrepreneurs balancing school while realizing their dreams at the same time. This is just one of many challenges that entrepreneurs must face in their daily lives. But it is not simply the act of starting a business that defines an entrepreneur, it is the qualities that one must possess in order to be successful. It is these very characteristics that help bring an idea to reality, and demonstrates the truly amazing abilities of what one can do. Whether the dream is about making millions of dollars, or saving millions of lives, they all start with an idea. It takes the mindset of an entrepreneur to take these ideas and make an actual difference in their lives and the lives of others.

    The Campaign:

The concept behind the campaign is simple; 1-week dedicated to celebrating entrepreneurship across Canada. At the heart of this celebration will be the events that are run throughout the week which will be hosted by our partner organizations. The events will vary in nature, but will all hold the common theme of promoting entrepreneurship to youth. The goal is to gather support from  as many partners as possible to  bring attention to entrepreneurship on a national level.

    Five Themes of EWC:

Creativity, perseverance and self confidence are just a few of the key characteristics prevalent in all successful entrepreneurs across the spectrum. The entrepreneurial ventures these extraordinary individuals embark on however are as varied as they come. There will be five themes throughout EWC which will focus on highlighting some of the major areas of entrepreneurship, and at the same time, exemplifying just how diverse entrepreneurship can be. The five themes are described as follows,

    Social Entrepreneurship

Reformers and revolutionaries with a mission, the social entrepreneurs play an integral part in bringing forth positive change throughout the world. Committing sometimes their entire lives to social change, they create value not in profit, but by the impact they have on society.

    Technological Entrepreneurship

Technological Entrepreneurship thrives on innovation and the constant pursuit of technological advancement. These entrepreneurs play a vital role in developing technological solutions which help solve many of the problems in today’s world.

    Green Entrepreneurship

Environmental Entrepreneurship or “Green” Entrepreneurship is a rapidly growing segment of Social Entrepreneurship which focuses on the environmental integrity and the social impact of businesses.  and setting an example for the rest.

    Women in Entrepreneurship

There is no surprise that women are rapidly becoming a large presence in the world of entrepreneurship. Successful women entrepreneurs are changing the faces of many industries and leaving behind inspirational stories that are certain to inspire many more young women to follow in their footsteps.

    Arts Entrepreneurship

A blend of artistic talent and entrepreneurial minded thinking are what drive these entrepreneurs. They are a true testament of the diversity in which entrepreneurship can exist. Whether it is fashion, music or film, it is their passion for artistic perfection that helps enrich the lives of Canadians.

NATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP DAY- JOURNEE NATIONAL DE LA CULTURE ENTREPRENEURIALE

Our ideas can evolve by developing skills like leadership, creativity, autonomy, sense of responsibility, team work, tenacity and self-confidence. Being entrepreneurial also means actively seeking experiences that allow us to reach a higher personal potential. On November 16th, why not try something you’ve always wanted to do? Who knows? It might just lead you down the path where your ideas will be fuelled into big successes! Don’t forget that National Entrepreneurship Day is a perfect opportunity to highlight projects that are happening in your schools and in your community.

Under the auspices of the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, headed by the Réseau des carrefours jeunesse-emploi du Québec, supported by the Secrétariat à la jeunesse, the main goal of this event is to promote entrepreneurship in all its forms by sensitizing youth, the education and community sectors, entrepreneurs and elected officials.
