YES Joins the Campaign

The YES network in Nigeria has joined a growing number of youth-led organisations to support and create  a huge awareness campaign on the need for entrepreneurship.Speaking about the initiative,Pamela Braide who is the country director of YES in Nigeria expressed enthusiasm about the possibilities and opportunities this awareness effort will bring.

The YES Campaign is an action oriented initiative present in over 55 countries, that responds to the enormous global challenge of youth unemployment through a youth leadership and enterprise based model.

As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week activities,two of the Global EW partners are putting up two different fantastic award programs.Junior Achievement Nigeria,an organisation that has achieved great success in bringing entrepreneurship education to Nigerian schools  would be rewarding astounding entrepreneurs across different fields of endeavour.

Withworth Entrepreneurship Consultants,an organisation with interests in promoting entrepreneurship & providing training is organising a big youth entrepreneurship awards recognising creating and innovation among Nigerian youths.

The Cordinating Committe of GEW Nigeria met with the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry  of Youth Development on the 27th May 2008. The Ministry has given its official consent to be part of the programme. An Assistant Director was nominated to be member of the Cordinating Committee.

Press Conference Postponed: based on the request of the Ministry  that Minister will like to be in attendace ,the World Press Conference slated for  29th May 2008  will now hold in  June. The  date shall be  duely communicated to the public soon

ADVOCACY VISITS

As part of ou plan programme the GEW Nigeria has commenced advocacy visits to some organisations; We were at the National Television Authority, Abuja Enterprise Development Agency both organisations agreed to fully partner for the success of the programme.

African Business Round table has equally written to express its interest in the programme. The President of the organisation Alhaji Bamaga Tukur has officially accepted to be one the Ambassadors for GEW Nigeria.

This is to inform all partners and host organisations in Nigeria that there will be planning meeting on Saturday, 5th April, 2008 at National Merit House Abuja. Time 3.30PM.

At the meeting   proposed ideas will be harmonised and detail programme of count down activities starting in May will be developed.
