One inspiring event during the Week featured videos from entrepreneurs around the world, who shared personal stories of how to receive funding and enter new markets, as well as the impact they have had on their local and national economy and the support they have received from their business community and government.
Held in Washington D.C. on The George Washington University campus, the event featured entrepreneurs like TheDilmah Teas of Sri Lanka, who supports hundreds of thousands of farmers; New Trend, an innovative CAD/CAM firm that has saved thousands of jobs in Macedonia; Quality Chemical Industries, which manufactures anti-retroviral and anti-malarial drugs in Uganda; and Duto, a Colombian start-up that created an innovative product enabling the blind to see.
The event was a Growth Initiative project of USAID, the International Institute of Tourism Studies of the George Washington University, and the Grassroots Business Fund. Find out more about the Growth Initiative project and view videos from the event.
