The goal for the GEW Venezuela team this year was to help stakeholders and the governement to discuss how to cooperate and build an entrepreneurial Venezuela. Understanding entrepreneurship as a civic activity that creates jobs, impacts the social and economic welfare and generates innovation and advances in knowledge. It was essential that all parties understood the importance of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The message this year was a call to action: 'Take your ideas and they can support entrepreneurs'. They encourage people to participate in Global Entrepreneurship Week by doing simple things like talking to your family, friends, neighbors about the imporatance of entrepreneruship; having a chat or talk show on innovation; holding an event in which they highlight entrepreneurship issues like employment generation, supporting talent, building a business, building a brand, innovation and technology, and social innovation.

This year Accede, Space Entrepreneurship, was responsible for the organization of the first edition of Startup Weekend Caracas. Over 40 people participated in the event, successfully creating 13 teams with a business idea. The group pesented their ideas before a distinguished panel of judges comprising representatives of Wayra, USB Sartenejas Technology Park, Fedecamaras Banesco Community Banking, Universidad Metropolitana and C.A. Ron Santa Teresa. After a fruitful discussion and deliberation session three winners were chosen.
