Scotland kicks off Make Your Mark Challenge as part of GEW

Mark Marich (GEW global)

United Kingdom

Dec 14, 2011

October 28 not only marked World Teacher's Day in Scotland, but also the launch of the Make Your Mark Challenge in Scotland, as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Fifty students who were winners of the event in 2007 and 2008 gathered for the occasion,  forming the chemical symbol of carbon dioxide (CO2). This idea reflected the theme of this year’s challenge ‘Don’t be a Carbon Copy’ and encouraged other schools within Scotland to enter the competition.

The Make Your Mark Challenge will be judged this year during Global Entrepreneurship Week. The goal is to encourage students to develop environmentally sustainable business ideas. Each entry will be judged by Determined to Succeed and the best entries in each category will be invited to participate in a Scottish final, where each team will be required to present their idea, along with competitor and financial information, to a panel of judges in a Dragons’ Den style.

Ayten Tartici works for the Global Entrepreneurship Week planning team and is based in Washington D.C.
