President Serves as Patron for GEW Bulgaria

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2012 in Bulgaria as received the support of President of Bulgaria Mr. Rosen Plevneliev who will serve as a patron for the Bulgarian campaign. Four organizations have partnered to bring GEW to Bulgaria in 2012: Junior Achievement Bulgaria has taken the lead and is joined by StartUp Foundation, Edno.bg and Franchising.bg. More than 100 events will be held around the country, engaging thousands of young people, budding entrepreneurs, business mentors and governmental officials in open classes in entrepreneurship, school innovation camps for new business ideas, conferences about start-ups, visits of architects in schools and others. Some of the top events include

  • National innovation camp in Sofia for 60 high school students who passed rigorous selection procedure
  • More than 85 open classes in entrepreneurship and economic literacy in primary and secondary schools all over the country. The classes will be coordinated by Junior Achievement Bulgaria
  • More than 20 innovation camps for entrepreneurial ideas in high schools all over the country
  • Architects visiting 8 schools in Sofia. A partnership project with Edno.bg (the organizers of Sofia Architecture Week) and Junior Achievement Bulgaria whose aim is to stimulate students to think about ways to improve the areas they live in and present concrete projects
  • Startup Conference (17.11.2012-18.11.2012) is being organized by StartUp Foundation (under the patronage of the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of Bulgaria). The convference will focus on the topic of: “Can Bulgaria become the Silicon valley of the Balkans?”. More than 500 people are expected to attend the conference which will feature inspiring lectures, panel discussions, roundtables, workshops and a hackathon.
